The construction of a new "Green field port" near Mogadishu, Somalia is due to the need to expand port facilities due to an increase in the prospective settlement fleet, as well as an increase in cargo turnover in this region.
The construction of the new port is envisaged in 2 phases with a further possibility of expansion.
The port includes:
- Container terminal;
- General cargo terminal;
- Liquid cargo terminal;
- Logistics park;
- Port fleet berths;
- Protective structures;
- Approach channel, operational and maneuvering zones.
Depths in the port water area allow to receive container ships up to 300 meters long and with a capacity of up to 10,000 TEU.
The estimated cargo turnover of the port is about 40 million tons per year with the possibility of increasing up to 80 million tons per year with a promising development.
